Imane runs 10000m in Eugene, since we planned to compete in WCh in this distance. Really, he wants to try to double, and, because Ethiopia doesn't organise trials for 5000 and 10000m like Kenya, but the Federation selects the best 3 times in those distances, he ran 5000m in Rome for trying to have a time in top 3 in the season among Ethiopians. Imane is also planned for running 5000m in New York, but probably we decide after the 10000 of Eugene to go back Ethiopia for training, going back at the end of June in Lausanne for another 5000m.
In Eugene there is Thomas Longosiwa as pacer, trying to go for 13'18" at half distance. Being there Zersenay Tadese, that normally is a strong front runner, we can have a good idea about what can happen in Daegu (Bekele is not sure about competing).
I'll be in Eugene on Tuesday evening, because on 3rd we have also an attempt of WR on track in 25000m and 30000m with Abel Kirui (current World Marathon Champion) and Moses Mosop. In my plan, Abel has to go for the record of 25000 and Moses for 30000m. Moses is in good shape, Abel at 80% only, and, if we see that he's not able to stay in the right pace for the WR of 25000, Moses can go, otherwise he remains behind Abel that officially can better the WR, and after has to finish the full distance.
About the training of Imane Merga (very similar to the training I gave to Ediwn Soi, winner today in Hengelo and in Eugene in 2 miles), I can write something when I'm in Eugene, as now I'm in Lisbon where there was a competition for women only in 5 km (Road) won by Mary Keitany (15'24") followed by Alice Timbilili and Florence Kiplagat together in 15'40".
