My zoom victory spikes got ripped open in a race when another guy spiked me. I was going to order another pair when I also saw zoom matumbos. Is there really any difference between these 2 shoes? (I primarily am a 1600/3200 runner). Thanks.

I prefer the Vics. I didn't like the Matumbos since I overpronate. The arch "support" just sort of falls over and doesn't really do anything besides make running less comfortable. I'm not sure if I'm describing this well. I guess since the arch support is high and I overpronate, I'm turning the shoe further inwards than would happen with a flat-arched spike. Maybe having wide feet also contributes to this issue.
Victory spikes are for the 800/1500 runner. Matumbos are for the 3k/5k/10k guys. I would stick with the victories if they have been serving you well.
If you do the 1600 and 3200 you could probably be good with either one. Try on both and see which you like better, if thats possible.
Mine were spiked open in a race too but I'm trying to hold them together with tape (minor rip). But since I'm an 800/1600 runner, I'm gonna continue to use Victories because they've been just excellent.
Mine are ripped pretty bad. I was thinking of tape but I don't want to risk having them fall apart at state, plus I hope to do one of the post season meets. Nowhere around here to try the matumbos, so I guess I'll also stick with the Victory. I've raced well with them. Whether my times have much to do with the shoe, though, I have no idea. But I guess better not to mess with what has worked.
