13. 113 Christopher Zieman 2:25:45
My teammate, ha.
It's on the frontpage at
for those that can't find that.
Christopher Zieman - 13th overall male, 2:25:41
Eric Post - 17th overall male, 2:28:54
Top American beaten by Female in Boston
I think that 13th overall at Boston is outstanding. Congratulations. Why is it that we have to look at it from a negative?
I look at it this way. We had 81 guys toe the line at the Olympic Trials and Mr. Zieman was not one of them. That means that we have 82 americans that are capable of finishing in the top 13 at the Boston Marathon this year. That doesn't sound that bad to me.
What was your time today truth??? Oh yeah, that's right, you didn't run. Hahahahahahahahahhaha! Poooo-cey
Any news on Kevin Collins? I'm assuming he dropped somewhere after 25K? Any news on why?
Our guy with the fastest PR prior to the race today in the race was a 224...So this wasn't exactly unexpected. Didn't Eddy Hellechuck or whatever his name is say he was running boston? did he run? Every one of our top marathoners was not in the race. They may not be the beest runners out there but not having any of your top 80+ runners in the race...probably even top 100 hurts your chances quite a bit.
Also they may have finished 13th...but thats only because guys faster then them died going for the win as they had a pack bigger then that for the first quarter of the race.

It makes sense that somebody who is actually doing something for the sport has this kind of positive attitude while those who like to belittle a 2:25 effort in the heat are the ones who carp anoymously behind their little pcs.
tyler kirk, recent graduate of WM debuted with a 2:38...pretty impressive
Kevin Hanson is right. I don't think you can bash the American performance in an Olympic year, since the Trials race was 2 months ago. It's easy to sit at the keyboard and write another "what's wrong with U.S. runners" post. If people like "The Truth" are really that fast, then maybe they should get out on the roads and do something about it or find a way to help American distance runners improve like the Hansons have.
Sure you can.
You would just be an uninformed ass to do so.
If anyone wishes to analyze this objectively . . .
The top Americans at Boston, with their rank on the 2004 US marathon list:
MEN
Chris Zieman -- 55th
Eric Post -- 73rd
Michael Wardian -- 79th
WOMEN
Andrea Niggemeyer -- 93rd
Julie Spencer -- 136th
Mary-Ann Proz -- 150th
(Greta Varchi of Setauket, NY, who would be the #2 American, appears to be an Italian scholar at SUNY Stony Brook)
Flat-out, this wasn't even the B-team.
You are usually smarter than that.
Michael Wardian has run 2:22:40 at the Olympic Trials this year. Double check where he ranks on the 2004 US list.
Thank you. He's 35th. I only updated the list this morning and didn't go through to indicate secondary marks yet. In fact, that's Wardian's THIRD (and slowest) marathon this year.
