When will Facebook fail?

Major companies pay to advertise on Facebook. They have more than enough money. You don't understand what you are talking about.

Facebook won't fail, but will probably evolve into something else.

when there are libya style riots against Mark Zuckerberg. I predict his reign at 42 years.

As long as people think people have an audience that cares about their dumb postings about going to the movies ect. Facebook will continue on.

People are addicted to Facebook. I don't get it.

I hate how some races are starting to use facebook for information about their race instead of having their own website.

Facebook should last as long as people continue to enjoy talking about themselves whether anyone is listening or not, so it should last forever.

Plenty of revenue for the owners via advertising.

Saying Facebook will fail is like saying e-mail will fail. Facebook is not AOL or MySpace.

Wrong, so wrong. I have no beef with Twitter, but it will never replace Facebook. Lack of advertising and shallow functionality will hinder the service. Hell, it already has. I use twitter quite a bit, but it is much less of a conversation, much more of an information sharing tool, even from a social perspective.

When Facebook invents cars that can drive themselves, an entire line of phones, a browser and operating system, and $3.4 Billion (with a B) in net cash inflow in a single year, I'll believe that.

The real question is when will flotrack fail? The only advertising they have is for their own site. It does not seem possible for them to exist, let alone sponsoring races. Hopefully they don't fail, but I don't see how it's avoidable.

Why would you prefer races to host all the information about their event rather than having their own website?

Most races have both race flyers and their own website. I am fine if a race has a facebook page but they should also have a their own website so people don't have to log in and limit themselves to Facebook.

FaceBook is run by a genius (Zuckerberg). The economy could bring down its advertisers, but short of that I don't see anything stopping it.

Yes, Facebook has already jumped the shark. This year's movie about it was its peak. Remember when Newsweek (or was it Time?) ran a cover with your house as a piggy bank in 2005/2006? Facebook is exactly where the housing market was in '06. Peaked!

My suspicion was that Facebook would eventually collapse in the same way Myspace did when something comes along that pulls all its users away, and that process was bound to accelerate once it began (just like Myspace). Facebook makes enough money to exist as a company.

What its worth as a company is another matter. It deserves a PE ratio of about 50.

That would value it at about 5-8 Billion. Anything more is ridiculous.
