ventulus 2. the upper feels so much better than that of the matumbo
A classic: Nike Vainqueur.
Personally, Nike JSC. Wore them for 800s and 4x4s.
A close 2nd is Nike Kennedy XCs. Never ran in the track versions, but heard they were good too.

Those shoes carried me to a 13:40 5000 many years ago.
Nike Zoom Air Ultra...
Works of Art. Great ride.
I don’t know what the ‘best spikes’ ever made were, matter of personal preference I would imagine.
But the most significant and ground-breaking pairs must be the first spikes produced by the Dassler company after WW2.
Ironically, Jesse Owens won his gold medals in 36 wearing Dassler shoes.
My favourite was the Adidas Melbourne spike, made of wonderfully soft kangaroo skin, white with green stripes.
I examined the hand made Nike spikes that Komen wore running his epic 3000 and they were certainly the lightest pair of spikes I’ve ever handled.
Zoom Kennedy - Black and Gold.
Puma Harambee- dozens of world records(800m-10k including steeple at various points), remained a relevant spike for almost a decade.
Granted, it was ripped off of a Nike shoe, but Nike never sold it, only gave it to their pros.
PUMA actually came out with a better spike than the Harambee this spring. The Zone.
Agree that the original Harambee is one of the best though.

no love for the eldorets?
only el g's 1500 & mile records, kennedy wore them and then the jasari upper w/ the eldoret spike plate, the harambee was a ripoff of the eldoret spikeplate, komen wore eldorets...
damn.
oh yeah, and lagat only got naughty and ran 3:55 in the 1999 ncaa indoor mile barely missing the record, while everyone else was wearing jasaris. just saying that the the eldoret was the choice of some of the best. it ruled!
Saucony Endorphin LD 2. Much like the victories but a little more flexible.
