makes you wonder. Would a fractured currency make the nation better or worse? Would people accept this currency out of SC?

what a heap of shit that state is. we should just let it secede, then guard the border and impose economic sanctions on it.
If it is just a back-up or a stop-gap, I think it is a good idea. If they seriously want to move to a new currency, I think that it is bananas.
South Carolina is a horrible state with the exception of Greenville, Spartanburg and Charleston - all three towns are fantastic.
Columbia needs to be nuked. What a hell hole.
My post on this subject was deleted yesterday by those butt-f***ing racist right wing brohos. I think the red necks down there want to go back to confederate money. Just my opinion.

i can actually agree with this. spartanburg is maybe pushing it a bit, but i can be swayed. west of g-s is great country!
my only problem with charleston is that the pride of the confederacy still runs a little too deep. the people there are just a little bit too proud that sc was the first to secede and that the first shots of the civil war were fired there.

Dude, that is cool history. Regardless of how you feel about the war, it is cool history. I would be proud too. Hell, DC is proud of Ford's theater where Booth shot Lincoln.
That is a major, major part of our nation's history. Would you prefer they acted like it didn't happen?
dude. i lived in charleston and rock hill, sc.
i know it is a major part of US history, and cannot be forgotten. but it is one thing to point to fort sumter from your tour group carriage and say "the first shots of the civil war were fired right over there, from Morris Island toward ships bringing armaments to Major Anderson at Fort Sumter" and another still to say all that with a hearty grin of pride, followed by "yeah boy. I'da loved ta see that!"
charleston has a sweet music and art scene though.
Great to see all those southern Conservatives are such strict constructionists:
Article 1 - The Legislative Branch
Section 10 - Powers Prohibited of States
No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money ; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.
I once was a reporter covering a state legislature, in a supposedly more "progressive" state than South Carolina. As we've seen in other stories from other states, the quality of states legislators can often be no quality whatsoever. The fact that there are actually people who would like direct election of U.S. senators to go back to these state legislators is pure insanity.
Does that include paper "funny money"
In New York, cops sodomized a man with a baton, in California, a transit cop shot a man in the back while the man was lying on his stomach and you people criticize South Carolina. Every state has its idiots and a lot of them are represented on this board.

Yes, let's make the state that has one of the 3 black US representatives not from majority-minority districts to secede, on account of them being racist.
You're brilliant--and unlike South Carolinians--not ignorant.
it is as far fetched as I think because it is patently unconstitutional. The fact that the article uses "may" in the title is ridiculous, if that law were passed, even with 100% of the vote, it would be immediately struck down.

Once again the racist Nat Turner adds nothing to the discussion except to accuse others of being racist. Where in your reading of the article did you see anything about this being related to the confederacy? Or can you not read? You are as big of a racist prick on here as anyone.
I read another aticle on this yesterday and there were other states considering this. They all happen to be in the South. Nat may have a point.

i quoted all of the above for a reason. i want you to show me in my post where i made any statement that my suggestion was based on the presence of racism in the state.

That is quite an odd response. What are your thoughts on strengthening border control along the Mexican border?
if you have ever lived in south carolina, which i unfortunately chose to do for 4 years, you would understand that there are a large number of people who have more pride in the confederate battle flag and the state flag than in the US flag. there are an astounding number of people who speak very openly about wanting the state to secede again and make it stick this time.
my opinion is, since the state is in general such a stinking pile of shit, we should let them go ahead and leave, but punish them for doing so by blockading them and imposing economic sanctions. then they can realize how much the state is propped up by being a part of the USA.
