No
Indoors is a good break. Europe and the Africans run it. Aussies run an outdoor season in our winter. It doesn't have to take awY from the winter base.
yes.
No where else in the world do track athletes try and do both well.
Most of the africans that race indoors will disappear come outdoor season..
bba - think your reply through and then post again.
No.
Our programs are driven by high school and colleges, which are out of session during the summer.
However - the post-collegiate group, which comprise the majority of our international athletes - might do better by focusing on xc in the winter/early spring before embarking on a long summer of competition.
quite a few foreigners have taken advantage of our collegiate system and still managed to be successful
Unfortunately, in the eyes of most American pro runners outide of the marahon, nothing short of the Olympics and World's "matters" anymore. This applies to indoor, XC, and summer track. It sucks for the fans that there are so many "meaningless" races.

Including one Bernard Lagat and one Noureddine Morceli. Not to mention Webb and others with John Cook who essentially avoid the cross country jogging crap like the plague.
Get rid of cross and replace it with proper base training (no or little racing), but do indoors.
