I hate small talk, really, but to make myself seem likable among classmates and coworkers I must learn this skill. I feel awkward because I never know what to say during a smalltalk situation; walking down the street, sitting in class before it starts, standing around with people.
Tell me how to smalltalk.

I'm like you and decided to practice my small talk at the beginning of this semester. It worked well for the first day or two of classes. Now I'm stuck sitting beside the people that I was friendly with a few weeks ago, and now I say nothing to them. lol

lol, I hate it too! I do it for work because it's expected of me, but my wife knows I hate small talk for "small talk's sake." It's one of my pet peeves.
Just use teeny, tiny words.
I'm good with small talk with girls because i just kind of smile and talk in a flirty way. if you continue to pay attention and offer anecdotes and affirmative startements that actually going along with what people are talking about it's ok to think with your dick. I think it helps me focus as long as i am in a public place. once i'm one on one with a girl on a couch or something my small talk turns to shit. or maybe not. i just know im talking in circles usually not actually able to focus on the topic.
with guys i have trouble because the flirty thing doesnt work. i just don't feel like i have a point with some guys i don.t know. i need to work on that as well.
