I can give you the name of my Dr. in Colorado, I'm thinking a little G-15 will clear things up.
It's very worrying when it happens, and it's very common at this time of year but eventually in a few weeks it will pass. If not, seek professional advice. A good PT will give you exercises to do, but it will still take a while to get proper relief.
happened to me a lot between ages 35 and 50. Now not at all.
Try Feldenkrais: openatm.org.
Good luck.
I recommend visiting a chiropractor and seeing if that helps. I've had knots and other problems in my lower back for over 10 years now thanks to gymnastics and pole vaulting.
When I was in college I got to see a student chiropractor for $5 a visit, twice a week. My lower back never felt better!

You're doing almost everything possible to irritate the nerves in your back. It is no wonder you have spasms and pain.
Heat irritates the nerves, brings blood to the surface, weakens the tissues, increases inflammation and pain, delays healing, and makes injuries worse. NEVER USE HEAT - as it would cause you to be in misery.
Use cold not heat. Cold relaxes the nerves, drives blood deep for healthy, strengtens the tissues, reduces inflammation and pain, and heals injuries. Ice water is good. You can use ice water compresses by filling a bowl with ice water, then using a washcloth to press the ice water to your back. Do this for at least several minutes, then dry the area thoroughly, and repeat as many times as desired through the day and night to relieve the pain in your back.
I would not use any of the things you have mentioned.

J.R. Why are there so many people getting this problem at this time of year? Is it the contrast between the cold outside and warmth indoors?
Good luck. I've been dealing with this one for many months, please post anything that you find that helps.
