There were like 130 runners and only 91 runners in the results.Lots of runners the guys up front were dnf s.Was it the course or somthing .So many names were dnf s .This was more so this year than other years .I know the 12k has more dnf s then the 8k or somthing like that but this years was a large number and a lot of BIG names that were up there and then gone .
some, for example, ryan vail, tried to run after running the half marathon championships. he might have had fatigue.
Probably because the courses were long. The ones who dnf'd probably only trained to cover the 8k, or 12k distance and no more.
Because its a trials race. There's no point if you are halfway through a 7.3 mile cross country race and the lead pack dropped you to fight it out to get top 15. You ain't getting paid and what's the incentive at that point? You go back to work and get in better shape.
then there should only be like 6 guys in the results.Man up 101 coaches tell you dont dnf unless you are hurt or somthing.dnf ing can become a habbit that if its not your best race lets dnf.Still i see the same thing a large number of dnf guys also .Is it that course?
you might be on to somthing .I know you were being funny.But if the course is messed up the last 1k even without the extra 150 or so was slow and beat people up.Its not like 2010 were there were NO dnfs.12k on that course is way far from 8k and i am not talking about just 4k.The extra 4k beats you up.I think some guys thought it was going to be fast or somthing and it was far from that(us champions running 5-5:10 min plus pace even with the long bit added in).Stuff like that can mess with a runner and he is like f this i quit.Look i am running slow out here and am hurting so lets drop out.When in fact it is not a bad race at all.
