I'm a male junior and most likely ( I'm told ) will be running D1 in college. Academics will play a larger role than the running program. I'd like to stay within 4 hours or so of the Chicago area. I know U of IL., Bradley, siu and eastern il. What about some others from the neighboring states? Thank you for the replies!

What is your major going to be? It is hard to give you pros and cons if you say that academics are more important than the running program. Why not go to UIC if academics are important? You wouldn't have to leave Chicagoland.

Need more stats like Grades/GPA/Desired Major and XC/TF times but it sounds like U of IL would be a very good fit for you. Strong academics and a team on the rise in your home state. UIC is likely not what you are looking for if academics has a more important role than running.
