Winter keeps dragging on, but looks like we're in for a reprieve this coming week here in the mid-US...woo-hoo break out the shorts!
Similar week to the past two, getting in about 40 miles off 6 days this week. I went to the indoor track MWF and did some different kind of running workout and form drills each of those three days. Only really notable part was an acceleration 2 mi run that went 6:40 first mile, and culminated in a 5:23 second mile, so I'm starting to feel a little more speed in my legs, but I'm still fighting the hip thing that feels better some days and worse other days. That's a step up from when I was feeling some discomfort every day. Other days were easy; culminated the week with 12mi easy on Saturday.
Topic: In one of Magill's Running Times articles, he was discussing weight for runners, and pointed out that most successful master's runners were running at weights that were near what they weighed in college. If that's the case, I'm way, way ,way off the mark. I still weigh 25 pounds more than I did in college. I can't imagine ever getting close to 134 lbs that I weighed back then, but maybe 146-148 might be a reasonable goal. Do you have any prescriptions that work for you in getting to your optimal race weight?
A week after the Packers took the Super Bowl, still feeling kinda giddy. Now it's on to basketball; How 'bout them Badgers taking down OSU?
Post 'em up!
