How many miles are they usually good for?

Until they become running pants.
Zero.
Haha. Great answers.
I am trying to see if their durability justifies the expense. How long do they stay tight? Anyone with a mileage figure?
I picked up a pair at Target for 20 bucks at the start of winter. They aren't fancy shmancy like some running tights, but they wick away the sweat well and don't get my legs too hot like some other tights. Basically they aren't too thick and they are pretty cheap. I wore them all winter so far (averaging about 40 miles a week) and they are still very usable. Will probably be in good shape for the start of next winter.
In short. They get the job done, and even if they didn't last the whole winter (which they seem to do), it would still be worth the 20 bucks.

I believe those are what I have, but anything similar for a similar price would work.

6403.9 miles
I've never understood why guys want to wear running tights. Running shorts work much better than basketball shorts, yes, so those are okay, but you can get track pants that aren't tights (i.e. we can't see what only your girlfriend should see) that work just as well as tights. Most of you wouldn't be caught dead in a speedo, yet you wear tights.
This is assuming you're a guy. Which is a hypocritical assumption, as I'm a girl...

fixed
We wear them for the training benefits. If the look isn't your style, follow my lead and wear track pants over the tights. You can't compare running shorts and running tights.
And yes, hetero guys do wear tights. Just ask these guys:

Agreed. No Chafing, no dangling around of your best mate, only benefits to it.
I used to care what other thought or saw and wore shorts over the tights. Now I just feel like they are extra weight without extra benefit and I stopped.
Even on busy trails I don't get looks at my private parts. I do get looks for being faster than most though...
