I was wondering where she was, great race by her!

she's a talent. Great kick at the end to move past the pack, just like her high school championship races.
she beat a lot talented runners for third

I'm assuming Amy Begley was just... training? Or nursing an injury?
First race for Begley after achilles surgery 7 (?) months ago.
Not any faster than her 10:00 2 mile HS run indoors though!
Where's her teammate Mel Lawrence? I haven't seen her posted in any results this indoor season.
Somebody get Goethals a Cheeseburger for that performance!!
(Seriously...she needs one)
+1
I agree. Where is the coach?

Not funny, dickhead.
Glad to see she's healthy. And it is actually better than the 10:00 she ran in high school.
This actually was not a collegiate race for Goethals, since she ran unattached. I was really disappointed by the performance by Katie Flood of Washington. She seems to be regressing just like a lot of the Washington girls have been doing for a few years now.
Well, Flood did just make the World XC team last weekend. Maybe she was more focused on that race than this one.
Flood's best high school 3K time was 9:42. That's not exactly regression to go 9:19
What's even crazier is that Aisling Cuffe beat Flood by a lot at junior xc. It'll be interesting to see what kind of times Cuffe is ready to put down in the 3k.

Actually it's not. She went 10:01 outdoors, and her 9:18 she just ran is worth about a 10:02.7
Still a solid performance regardless.

Not that she won't run some fast 3000m times, but perhaps the difference is that she is much better on the turf. Some people are just better on that surface, either than than others who run similar times on the track, or even relative to her own track performances.
I'm not positive on how to convert to a 2 mile, but using the coolrunning pace calculator, her pace was 4:59.4 for a full mile, which would be about 9:58.77 for 2 miles. Wait... nvm, milesplit says it would be 10:02, which probably makes sense considering it's a lap less. I'm also guessing the oversized track makes up for it not being banked... but we're only taking 2-3 seconds so w/e. Man, i wish i could be that skinny and still run a time like that after taking however much time off.
