Why Cant The People in Egypt Wait Until September?

Because if they wait 6 more months then the guy who has been in power for 30 years will have time to arrest, torture, and kill the most out spoken people against his regime. LIKE HE HAS BEEN DOING FOR THE LAST 30 YEARS.

Do you know nothing about this guy and what he has done.

He would love it if the protestors just said yeah let’s wait till the next election. Right now the protestors have the momentum and the world is watching. The world will not be watching in 6 months.

If you give him six months there will not be much of an opposition left, that is what he is hoping for.

Is what he's done any worse than what the Irani regime has done? I didn't hear Obama advocating that the president of Iran step down when the people of Iran were protesting against being arrested, tortured and killed. What's the difference?. The only one I can see is Irans leadership supports radical Islamic views and many of the protestors in Egypt support radical Islamic views. It seems Obama only supports the side of radical Islam. You show an amazing ignorance of the situation. All this psychobabble about radical islam and not one mention of the most important factor at play here, Zionism. The Egyptian people know, even though you clearly do not, that if they do not truly topple the regime now, it will be back to business as usual and that their leaders will be jailed, tortured, and killed (in fact many already have been jailed by the supposedly neutral army). USA has sway in Egypt as we send them billions every year to play nice with Israel (and to buy our weapons). No sway in Iran as they overthrew the US installed puppet the Shah. Do you really not understand the difference?

Waiting until September gives Mubarek over half a year to wait this out. The movement against him will lose steam. He'll have months to identify and round up opposition leaders and neutralize them. He can, when things calm down, announce that he will run after all, or his son will, and he can use his power to remove opponents who might beat him. He may be able to come up with a plausible reason to call the elections off.

Egyptians recognize that pledge for the stalling technique it really is.

I know there has been controversy about the promotion of democracy in recent years, and much of this controversy is connected to the war in Iraq. So let me be clear: no system of government can or should be imposed upon one nation by any other.
