I don't get it. Instead of being sad, why doesn't he pay his own way to the race and enter like the most of us? What?, he only races when all expenses are paid and he is pampered? Is this how the elite field views the 99% of us that make it even possible for the elites to be treated the way they are??

the good runners are entertainers, and they are being paid to perform.
he is not like most of us, he is not going just to finish, or run some time that would give a runner no chance at victory, his intent is to win.
However, looking at the entry list and with an objective point of view, Keflezighi does not stack up in terms of personal best performance. He is going against 2:05-2:07 marathoners and he is a 2:09 performer, regardless of an Olympic Silver several years back.
The game has changed, Meb has not adapted to the game. Even Baldini realized that an Olympic Gold was not enough and did his best to run sub-2:07 for his running resume.
Meb is absolutely great, and in my opinion a NYC Marathon victory should have at least earned him entry in Boston, but when the PR's start stacking up, Meb can't cut it.
