I've never filed my federal taxes online before but I am thinking about doing it this year.
I have a mortgage, dependents, charitable contributions, and this year I cashed out a small 401k I had. It looks like I should use TurboTax Premier because of the 401k payout.
Here are the dumb questions I couldn't easily get an answer from the TurboTax website:
1) Does TurboTax save my returns-in-progress on my computer or on the internet? My computer is kind of old and I wouldn't be surprised if it crashed. Can I access my returns from another computer with the same sign-on?
2) Do I have to manually type in my W-2 information or is there somewhere on the web that TurboTax finds it with my taxpayer ID number?
3) Do I need to mail the W-2 forms anywhere?
4) Do they really only charge $49.95 for the Premier Edition or are there some add-ons I can expect to pay.
Thanks in advance!
