I had read somewhere that the 2012 qualifying standards/window would be released during the first week of February.
Has anyone seen anything yet?

I think its been pushed back to end of Feb...
Rumors are they are negotiating with the towns/cities along the course about enlarging the field, adding more waves etc. There is also no other reasonable explanation.
If they are able to double the field size, then they should be good for the next couple of years.
I'd still prefer strict new standards that challenge average joe at an iconic Marathon achievement mark: 2:59:59 for males under 35/40. We'll see.
After I read they didn't make an offer to Meb today I decided they weren't worthy of my registration.

I'd like to see this standard too. Along with a similar decrease in all the other age groups.
They should decide already (hopefully before my long run on Saturday). If they are keeping the present standards, I can ease up on my training. Otherwise, I will have to keep upping my mileage.

Yes, of course. Cutting 10:59min across the board. Not sure how many women that would exclude though. I think there are many many of them who qualify with 3:30-3:40 right now. But yeah, back to my initial thoughts: all it takes is an intern an MS Excel to figure out how far they should cut the standards.
