At least at the high school level. Did the employees of dyestat quit and go to work for prepgold?

ESPN/John Dye selling out killed dyestat.
can prep gold do girls...........
seems like a interesting concept but the site really doesn't have much going on yet. some recruit rakings only, boys only...not that great yet.
Again, I only post under my name.
I'm going straight to PrepGold.com to see what all the fuss is!!
I'm promoting it because, at least somebody is stepping up! Of course it doesn't do everything, what it's been around a couple of weeks? Dyestat has Espn behind it and has the same headlines for weeks. I think a little competition will only help. It cracks me up though that the few times I have brought up prepgold a negative poster thinks it's the owner of the site undercover.
If the site gets comprehensive with recruit rankings for men and women and all events done very well it will be huge. I hope it keeps developing.

Prepgold is rather bland and unoriginal. I'm personal friends with a couple of the guys from my state ranked on the site. The Bios of many of the athletes are very subjective and for the most part, I would allege, "made up." For the guys I'm friends with there is commentary such as "blank is his favorite event" or "blah blah is his running style" or "he needs to do blank to improve." Much of these statements couldn't be further from the truth and it reads like someone copy-pasted from a Milesplit bio, a local newspaper article, and watched one clip of a race that the athlete was in. Pretty sketchy reporting/journalism in my opinion.

How is "personal friends" different from just "friends"?
One way to look at it.I'm friends with the couple across the street and often have dinner with them at the club, My personal friends make believe they don't piss in my pool and give me way too much shit about eating way too much bacon.

"just friends" means she dumped your ass but still wants to make believe she does not piss in your pool.
T&FN was awesome 10 years ago. Unfortunately for them, their subscription base is dying and they have limited revenue streams. Their reporting is good, but often not timely and go ask most high school T&F athletes if they've ever heard of T&FN? They haven't. The magazine needs to do a serious rebrand, and it starts by getting a fresh look to their magazine, not the same old look they've had for years. Here's to hoping that their e-magazine helps them jump back into being relevant.

Lots of runners like to say they are friends with "so and so" like some guys from Illinois on my college team act like they are friends with Chris Derrick because they spoke and raced with him in the same IL State XC meet. I am specifying I am a "real friend" with these guys, as stupid as that sounds. You asked.

I like it. For prep runners, it is filling the void left by the decline of Dyestat since ESPN Rise acquired it. The post-acquisition Dyestat has bugs, its reporting is not timely, the quality and quantity of content has diminished, etc.
Prep Gold is off to a very good start. There is frequent and quality updates on the Prep scene. What is needed at this point is: 1) a PR campaign to generate positive awareness of the site; 2) More active participation in the Boards; 3) Ability for athletes to upload photos;
They should try and merge with track talk. It would be beneficial for both sites.
