Indoor season has been frustrating for me so far. I ran our first two meets with a 3k and 5k time of 9:59 and 17:15. This was about were I wanted to be for the first meets and hoped to get down to 940's and 1640's by the end of indoor. But after the 5k I decided to weigh-in because I was worried I had gained weight. I hoped to be about 159-160 but was actually a whooping 167 and being 5'10ish that means I am fat. I immediately cut my diet down and ate healthier and by the end of the week was 164 and am now 161. The next 3k sucked I lost contact with my group and jogged a 1028, knowing I left a lot on the track. This week I ran a 5k hoping to bounce back and it was slow again 1730 and this time I put all my effort into it. I'm really disappointed with these times and have done everything better these past two weeks to improve. I was running about 55 miles a week and now am up to 70 and have picked the pace up on runs to 7 flat from 730.
Should I have expected a drop in performance from dropping weight. I know it will help me in the long run by getting down and staying down. But when will the effects of weight loss hit in? Should I just scrap indoor and hope for a successful outdoor?
