What are people's thoughts on the best and or most up and coming Division 2 running programs.

shippensburg university has to be the most up and coming for d2. Coach (former olympian steve spence) looks like he is building a good program for the future.
Adams and Western have absolutely dominated D2 since they moved up in ...92' ???
Mines is the top academic school and perhaps has the best middle distance runners lately - albeit Adams would argue.
Chico produces great individuals, always seem to be top 5.
Grand Valley- Unique training from what I hear, always pretty deep. Although they have always been good I'd consider them up and coming.
Abilene and Alaska are Kenyan squads.
Western Washington - They do pretty well with the kids they get.
Really, depending on where you would like to go geographically, I wouldn't go anywhere sides Adams, Western, Mines, Chico or GV.
Adams has been disgusting of late and has been getting a ton of foreigners. If you want to contribute within the first couple of years I'd look at Western over Adams as you never know what foreigners Adams will bring in.
Depending on your subject, you'd be silly not to go to Mines if you are looking for a good academic D2 program. Mines blows everyone else far away in that area.
D2 doesn't really have up and coming programs, Adams and Western have just dominated for the past fifteen years, and then you have your same 7-8 schools fighting for the the last podium spots. As of late though I will say that Grand Valley has became a major threat. A bunch of guys will come on here and rep of their school...Shipp...Southern Indiana...western oregon...all fine schools with fine teams but if you're looking to be around a lot of quick guys I wouldn't look at any other program besides the big 5 that I mentioned earlier.
ive heard good things about Delaware's programs
No they wouldn't have been good for JUCO, let alone DII.

To be fair this really only applies to certain areas. To state that Mines is the top school in DII for academics hands down is silly considering it is a specialty school that focuses on a select area. I'm sure there are better academic programs in DII than at Mines for many major choices.
These are the departments at Mines
