"____ is the reason why track and field isn't more popular in this country"
I see this phrase written all the time on LetsRun by people criticizing any situation or event they view as negatively impacting running in the U.S. Anything from anonymous posters on a message board thread commenting on a spell of bad races by a promising American runner, to people who are questionable about an article written on the homepage has been listed as a reason why our sport can't make it big in America.
Stop saying this. There are a innumerable factors that result in track not being a popular sport in this country. Criticizing people for speaking their minds on sites like this isn't going to change anything. You may have a legitimate claim against something another person has said, but asserting that what they have said is the sole reason why track is unpopular is not one of them.
