I know a lot of people on here complain about how much salary professional runners make and how its not worth it to run professionally. I think they have it wrong, track athletes are paid exactly what they should be paid. Its the other sports whose athletes get paid too much. If you are a pro athlete with a contract that pays you 30-50k a year including racing compensation and benefits you have more than enough money to live a very comfortable life. Plus you get to do what you love to do, run and race. Even guys that are 14 flat runners and only get shoe contracts, thats still saving you a bunch of cash. You aren't near being a world class athlete an it isnt the running industries fault for that. Plus if you were in that decent of shape you should be smart and find the road races you can win that have purses and just hit the roads on the weekend. Where I live a guy in that shape could easily pick up 10 grand a year just racing the weekends. If you have to work at Dennys to pay the rest of your bills so be it, but dont use the excuse there isn't any money in it. It shouldnt be about the money anyway.
