So, for the Letsrunners among us who have a ladyfriend, what are you getting her? I'll preface this by saying I hate this holiday, but I also enjoy seeing my girlfriend happy (and reaping the benefits of this), and it matters a lot to her (whether or not that's rational is another story).
Anyway, I'm looking for good ideas. I'm probably spending $50-75 on flowers, and we're going out to dinner, but is it pretty standard to get a "real" gift like some jewelry or whatever?
NB: I'm 28, she's 25.

If you are getting her flowers and dinner, don't do anything else. This is not her birthday. I have always done dinner and flowers and have never had any grief.
Note: I'm 25, she's 24.
Getting her flowers, and some nice chocolates. Going out to dinner. I don't think you really need to do more. I mean with lots of people, you already have christmas and birthdays, plus if you've been together a while, anniversaries. It's a bit much...
I usually just draw her a card. She loves them.

buying her one rose and taking her to her favourite ice cream place, fyi our anniversary was 3 weeks ago, kinda overshadowed the V-day or else we'd do dinner etc. but could only afford to go bigger on one with college etc.

Show her you care and put some time into it. Cut out little hearts, glue them on, make up a poem, or just search online for some love quotes. Women love this shtuff!
Why pay 5 to 10 times more for flowers on this day than any other?!? Because Hallmark said so??? Gimme a break!
The best way to commemorate this special day is to do her from behind. This is a win-win for both of you.

I'm having her make me a sandwhich and bring me Nattys while I play Xbox. Then give me dome.
I give my wife one flower. I pick it up on the way home from work. I also give her a handmade card with a little note written in it. And we go out to a nice dinner.
I would suggest not spending 50-75 bucks on flowers. Such a waste of money. One flower says you care about her. A bunch of flowers says you don't care about money.
