I've been trying to do sort of lactate threshold workouts over the winter, to get a running base for spring, instead of just a power base as usual.
Of course my power has gone down, but the running feels good.
I will do a 5k, then various intervals at 4min pace until I crap out (all on a treadmill). Usually can go 2 mins first time, then less and less after that.
I've become interested in this lactate threshold thing, and remember in the back of my mind the use of sodium bicarbonate to forestall some sort of acidosis.
Does anybody here use it, and if so what has the effect been, if any?
