Is it a corporate America thing, or do real, down-to-earth Americans really look at themselves as subserviant to the management of the given winning team?
They always give the trophy to the owner, manager, and coach first, then the actual athletes get involved. Oppposite happens in other sports, like track and soccer.

Are European-based sports like track and soccer more appreciative of the actual participant, as opposed to the administrator, sure seems that way from the way they present trophies and medals.
