Is it common practice to reduce mileage when going into the fundamental/sharpening periods?
I'm starting to get more serious about workouts and would like to know how far to reduce my mileage. I have a 10 mile race coming up in the spring.
So I've been doing 90-100 mile weeks off of about 11-12 runs for about 5 weeks now and about 70-80 (off all singles) for a few months before that. I tried doing intervals last week at the same volume but my legs felt tired going into them.
Should I just go back to running 70-80 mile weeks or just reduce the volume even more until I can go into workouts feeling relatively fresh?
