Seems pretty lame to me, if HS track was good enough for every past HS stud why isn't it good enough for him.
didn't he also make a big deal about running XC for his high school, then he doesn't run track for them... it smells bad.

I think it has something to do with the brilliant IHSA decisions.
He's a foreign elitist bastard. Exactly why I don't like him.
He DID want to run for his team. He also wanted to run New Balance as well as some other pro races. However the Illinois High School Association would not allow him to do both. He chose what he felt was his best opportunity to improve himself for the future, a good choice.

I don't doubt Webb would have done same thing if forced by his state association to make that choice.
