damn. his improvement in the shot put is huge compared to previous years. he'll be very close to the world record in london.
Also, there is not a nicer guy in the world of track and field. Congratulations.

Very true. He is a really nice guy.
Looks like he set a personal best in each event except the 1000 and the high jump. I think he may well be The Next Big Thing in the multis.
Yea good call. Give him a few years and he might become good at the multis. Is there something better than the WR that I don't know of? Universe Record

Yes. It's called the decathlon.

Pretty sure we already knew he was the next big thing in the multis after his WR in the hep last year, and then his 8457 at Ncaa's before shutting the season down. Everyone knew all he had to do was improve his throwing technique and he'd be virtually unstopable.

Okay, there is no need to bust my balls here, I just wanted to say that it was a good performance, and I would love to see him do really well at the World Championships this summer. I would also like to see Bryan Clay, or Trey Hardee, or Tom Pappas do really well.
Barring injury or ...injury...he's going to be a gold medalist in London
I'm not as interested in how he does in London so much as how he's quite possibly the best athlete ever to compete. He's world class as a sprinter, hurdler, long jumper, and damn good at the pole vault and high jump. Unreal.
Not to mention he could still beat most LRC posters in the 1,000m (including myself).

I don't understand why he has such a stupid coach who makes him peak for indoors when Daegu is only six months away.
Where did you read that he has peaked?
That is an unspeakably stupid comment. Ashton Eaton is still in the build-up phase in his training. He has not peaked, and will not peak until this summer. He is coached by one of the very best, Harry Marra, who knows more about the multi-events, and peaking of athletes for performance, than you have in your little finger. By making your idiotic statement, you only show your ignorance.
have you ever met an athlete who wanted to win an indoor race ? not me either. indoors is a training run.

You mean besides every athlete who ever ran an indoor race? You are one big f'tard. Watch the webb video and tell me if he wanted to win the other day.
indoors is a fun run. for webb. for eaton. for you and for me.
yeah, I started a thread here on Tallinn / Eaton while the event was still going on, but it only got about 12 hits, from about the same 3-4 people.
It's a shame that a running board of this volume would [seemingly] care so little about the world's greatest T&F athletes (or even greatest without the 'T&F' qualifier).
It appears to me this board is populated primarily with distance runners, not a lot of sprinters or combined eventers. Oh well. It's nice to see that someone else here cared.
Clay, Eaton, Hardee... damn, has the USA ever looked so good in the multis?!?! :-)
Ashton Eaton, Trey Hardee, Bryan Clay--nice.
Good times for multi's. With good conditions you will see the WR fall in the next 2 years.
Pappas won't be a factor--too lumbering, always injured.
Look for Maurice Smith to have a good year, as well as, I think, Adjetey-Nelson.
The wildcard could be Karpov, if he returns to form.
It's going to be crowded at the top--anything can happen in a full decathlon.
Ashton Eaton is unbelievable.
3 guys I think were amazingly talented naturally: Daley Thompson (GBR), Mike Smith (CAN), Ashton Eaton (USA).
We all know about Thompson.
Smith was amazing and I believe could have had the WR, but had foot injury problems, I think because he was too big.
Sebrle is well-motivated and excellently trained, which is of paramount importance in multi's, but I don't think he had the raw athletic ability of a guy like Eaton.
If Eaton can maintain his training, he'll own the WR within 2 yrs.
Too bad there are no good multi meets in the USA. We should host a good pure multi meet, like Hypo in Gotzis.
Yeah, right.
