He has got to chill out. He was sick with the flu FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! I understand his hunger but who on earth is going to race well when you JUST recover from the flu? He stated in another video that he happened 2 and a half weeks ago and couldn't get out of bed. I hope he understands this.
How much time did he miss?
Man poor guy you feel so sorry for him after watching that. It's like he's pretended long enough that he's still enthusiastic after missing a year of training after 09, after the 1:52 800m etc and now is finally fed up with everything that's gone wrong, not just this.
holy crap i thought he was about to cry.
what a whiny baby.
Why did he build this up to be such a big thing? It's february and he's talking about "starting over".
he was way too whiny/pouty in that interview it was disgusting
Sorry...meant to write "He stated in another video that THIS happened 2 and a half weeks ago..."
When Ive gotten the flu that bad...it takes me a week or two to actually get back into the flow of things...hell...I struggle with running just a couple of miles after "recovering" from the flu.
How long has it taken you guys to get back into the swing of things after a serious flu?
It appears that he raced because he was incredibly anxious and not because he was healthy.

What? Do you want him to keep pretending he's happy? For once we have an honest interview what do you want? In fact it almost sounded like it was a shot at Alberto's training where he was doing the voice saying "Oh i'm going to race but it's early and I'm going to do terrible" and "you shouldn't enter a race if you don't feel like you'll win."
That's COMPLETELY against anything Alberto does. He's all about entering random races at distances that don't help you whatsoever, doing races when you aren't in shape at all, doing slow races and then running damn workouts afterwards etc. Like I said before, this is the real Webb talking, not the fake Webb who was "happy" to race his opening 800 no matter what shape he was in.
He doesn't want to mess around with dumb distances, and when he races, he wants to be ready.
I was at the meet. Even warming up, Webb looked tight in his upper body, and his stride didn't look right. Don't know if it's related to his hamstring problems or if it's more psychologically driven, but I could tell before the race started that this wasn't the good Allen Webb.
he's fine at the end of it, he cools off. he even admits its just post race whining.
he'll be fine.
Webb will be ok. He'll figure it out. Everyone goes through their tough phase as a runner. Maybe some don't. But I think the many that do find their true potential.
I do think he is overthinking however, and needs to know that he did just have the flu. Running isn't that complicated, keep it simple Webb, you've GOT the fitness just because you won't win it doesn't mean you aren't as fit as the others.
OVERTHINKING!

Agreed. He's determined and he didn't meet his expectations, rightly or wrongly placed as they may have been. I appreciated seeing a championship level athlete show frustration and vent a little. He's a real dude.

Oh no, and Geb surely must be such a baby for crying at the end of the NYC Marathon right?
It's good to see a little fire in his eyes.
He needs to learn how to learn from losing.

No. What's disgusting is when an athlete does not meet their own expectations and comes away all smiles afterward.
Its February....
He looks emotionally exhausted. Not good...
I loved it. He's hungry. I don't think he was whining. He's hungry and not only wants to compete, but race for the win. That anger may serve him well in the near future.
