Maybe he really can run beyond 5k!
Maybe he really can run beyond 5k!
Somebody posted a very similar message ("Solinsky running strong") midway through his 26:59 at Stanford last year.
That was different. Teg don't run no 10k.
pussied out?
or can he catch up?

Are you kidding me? He has not raced at close to 100% health in about 16 months and he runs a decent 12k as more of a workout than anything else and you say that he is pussin out? You are crazy. He found out that he still has a ways to go, but I guarantee you that it was a good effort!!!
I agree, Teg found out that missing all of that time is tougher than it used to be - he is getting up there in age a bit and time off is now a "bigger deal" than it was when he was in his mid 20's! I actually thought that he ran very controlled; pushed the pace of the chase pack and was not in race shape to go after Vaughn. Brent ran a great race; best of luck to him to keep it going! Teg, I hope that this sets him on pace to get ready to make the team for Daegu in the 5k.
I thought Teg looked relaxed and smooth; unfortunately they did not show the pack in the last 2k, so we did not get to see him being dropped by the pack. My assumption is that he just finished at pace and did not attempt to kick. I heard that he may run an indoor race or two in the coming weeks to tune up for Melbourne and the attempt to run sub 13:20. We need to remember that he has not truly raced since the end of the '09 season!!!

Actually he ran three 1500ms (NYC Diamond League, heats and final at USATFs) and one 5000m (Pre Classic) in 2010.
4th is fine in this field and a good rustbuster to let him know where he stands in mid Winter. it's notable that u.s. results at this meet do not usually predict very well the u.s. results at world's (assuming the top six qualifiers ever run world's). as we saw with the track meet today, a 3:50 and a 3:46 guy can run 4:07 and 4:00 in early February and it might not mean anything. congrats to vaughn! he was something like an 8:46 guy in hs, if I remember right, and so like solinsky he had some pretty good early credentials: everything just had to click.
