That's why football is a joke. They don't test for them. They don't care. The odd thing is that it doesn't make football better. All they need is a level playing field- everyone on or everyone off.

I would don't care if most NFL players were drugged. It is about the greatest TEAM sport there is. Individual stats in football are important for some but there is no doubt that team records and championships rule the sport. It is all about how 11 players on the field mesh together. If one is off his mark the entire team gets burnt.
Some punk baseball player doping to the gills (Bonds, McGuire, etc.) get glory because of the personal stats they get. Those stats are what rule baseball, much like what they do for track, swimming, triathlon, cycling and others. Stats in these sports make up the legend of the athlete.
At my college a steroid test was taken of several players. It was supposed to be random but they managed to test the kicker, punter, 2 receivers who were under 200lbs, a kick returner, and an offensive lineman. Guess which one failed.
Are you stuck in the 80s? They've tested for a long time.
Are you stuck in blissful ignorance? It depends what they test for. You don't just test and whatever shows up shows up. You test for certain drugs. Their testing is a joke, if it were serious they'd put themselves outof business.
Do they do random out of season testing? Otherwise the testing is a joke.
I knew of a handful of HS football players in my school who took steroids.
Here's the kicker....not everyone who takes steroids will get huge and strong. If your cycle sucks, you don't know what you're doing or you're just a low responder then it won't do much for ya.

Alan makes a great point about low responders. The converse is also true. Some people are high responders. I'd guess the same is true with epo.
Yep....steroids and epo are very similar in that regard...any hormone is. The number of hormone receptor sites vary as does the affinity the receptor has for the hormone.

I'm not sure what your point is, but there has been precedent with punters getting caught in the NFL.
I don't believe a lot of that. I saw Alzado play and he stood out as a guy who had a lot of muscle mass but didn't seem quite natural. Plus he was a mental freak, even by NFL standards. To just say he was a typical NFL player with steroids is not accurate IMO.

Who cares? I'd get it was closer to 98%. Just look at these guys after their playing days are over. They start to look a lot more "normal." (normal for some that's 6'4+ with a large frame.

We're not born to be 300 lbs. or jump 30 ft. But all the time I was taking steroids, I knew they were made me play better. I became very violent on the field and off it. I did things only crazy people do. Once a guy sideswiped my car and I beat the hell out of him. Then look at me when I died, my hair was gone, I wobbled when I walked and had to hold on to someone for support, and I had trouble remembering things. My dying wish was that no one else ever dies this way.
Lyle was just a very high responder and/or lifted and ate in such a way to get massive and/or had a GREAT cycle.
Take a look at the world of bodybuilding. Every top man from the lowly NPC shows to the Pros are on stuff. The difference is that the Pros have a better cycle, know what they are doing better, are very high responders, etc.
Taking steroids isn't just popping a pill or shooting up and that's it. It's a matter of using the correct cycle with the correct steroids to optimize results...and that's an individual thing. Read into it and you'll see what I mean.
