For xc and track, how common are full ride scholarships? Mainly interested in girls but how does the frequency differ from girls to boys?

haha good one.. as long as such scholarships are there..ther will not be much difference but obviously girls have better chances....
A coach is more likely to give you a full tuition scholarship...which means you'd still have to pay room&board and fees. Or they'd give you a 1/3, 1/2, or 65% ride... It really depends on what schools you're looking at. If you go for smaller D1 schools, like schools in the MVC Conference and the OVC Conference for example, you're more likely to get more money. Division 2 schools are also able to give scholarships, and are more likely to give you more than a D1 school if you're talented enough.
For proof that I know what I'm talking about... I have personal experiences to back up my writing.
I have had a couple injuries over the past 4 years, and they were pretty serious (requiring surgery and long amounts of time off) but I ran some decent times my freshman year and I was able to hammer through some important races my junior year and senior cross country to run fast times again. (Not quite as fast as freshman year, but keep in mind I was running on a serious injury...) Anyway, I ended up getting 2 full-tuition scholarship offers at the Division 1 level, but I got 4 or 5 full ride offers at the Division 2 level. I ended up choosing a D1 school, but that's not the point. Point is, run fast, and you'll find out how common full rides are...
