Seems impressive but why gloat? Several Americans who can take his ass to the woodshed.

Maybe ass white, but your slow/KKK white ass will not be one of them.
What insecurities do you have that you need to characterize Abdi's comments in an interview as 'gloating'? Does it make you feel better about yourself?

although OP was being a prick with is statement, Abdi has done this type of thing before telling how good a shape he is in then bomb in a race, could be insecurity on his part or maybe some cockiness, never the less he is great for the sport and I wish him luck today
As of late, Abdi's age has begun to show. As distance guys get closer to retirement, they try to ramp themselves up with confidence with statements like that. Not saying lying, but it is almost like it's for their own benefit.

Not sure why it's all that exceptionally impressive. Look at similar sessions from other elites (re: Canova) and this is a good but not all that outstanding session. This isn't College running anymore, and it's not the 1970's either (where 28min for 10k was seen as excellent).
Now arguing whether 4 reps was more necessary than 3 or even 2 (perhaps overdoing it) at this intensity may be another matter, or disagreeing about the recovery as well. It's not unheard of for guys at this level to be doing 3k reps in 8.00 on the track, so 8.30 on XC (how hilly was it really?) may not be out of line. Whether this actually helps HIM to race faster is also another matter, and up to he and his coach to figure out.

Say that again?
