Not too long ago we were all falling in love with former Appelby's employee German Fernandez. Now that he's fallen on bad luck (and bad times) the bandwagon is slowly shifting to Lukas. What will German need to do get his fan base back?
Admit it - you almost had a heart attack when he ran 3:55 solo. But now he's almost a forgotten phenom.
Eventhough he won't accept my friend request of Facebook I'm riding his wagon till the very friggin end!
I'm pretty sure most people here are still obsessed with him.

Lukas V. doesn't have the fanatic fans that German had, which have finally mostly shut up by his overall mediocre college career. Huge list of guys who could have run faster than 3:55 for indoor if they'd been newbish enough not know better.

i'm sorry but thats just stupid. your last sentence i mean. i had a teammate who would talk about someone doing so well because they are new to the distance or whatever and just didn't know any better. dumbest thing ever! take that logic and its terrible to be a veteran because you "know" how fast you should run, whereas if you are a newbie you can run way faster because you don't "know" what you're capable of. since when does knowing what you are capable of have anything to do with how fast you can actually run?

I didn't know a world record, an NCAA 1500 title, and a US junior record was considered mediocre
German Fernandez has still accomplished more than Lukas has in high school. Guaranteed, Lukas's final track season is coming up but the fact is that German ran 4:00 and 8:34 in the same meet at the age of 17. Lukas is already 18. Furthermore, Lukas is not near those times yet. He is certainly capable of it, but it's not that easy to do. German Fernandez is still the more accomplished high school phenom, but Lukas may be able to surpass him this track season.
Also, the kid had a monster freshmen year of college. He runs 3:55, 7:47, 13:25, NCAA 1500 champ, and is top 15 at World Jr. Cross. All of this with a few injury problems here and there. I think most people know that that kid is for real, and right now I would say Lukas is still running in his shadow.
