I met with my trainer yesterday to begin some training sessions and go over goals for the year.
My goal this year is to put on 15-20 lbs of muscle. I'm probably like most of you: thin and lose weight if I exhale. I'm 5'9", about 140-145 lbs right now and in pretty good shape but I want to try to get up to 160. My trainer told me I'll need to stop my running or reduce it to 1 or 2 days a week since my body slims up too quickly.
Anyone with weight lifting experience think this is true? He's a good trainer and we had good results last year, but I wanted to try to drop my 5k time this year as well. Can one gain 20 lbs of muscle and still train for a fast 5k?
