Not sure if this has been mentioned, but here's an article from Frank Deford of SI.com about Dallas thinking about a 2020 bid. Short article, but thought-provoking.

That would be the worst f***ing idea of all time. Maybe people who like shiny shirts, massive hair, massive cars, and cocaine would have a good time, but nobody else would.
On a related note, Dallas is hosting the Super Bowl this year.
I am naked.
Dallas made a bid several years ago as well to host it for the same year as Chicago made it to the finals, before our illustrious retard flew over there and screwed it up, just like everything else he has something to do with.
Maybe people who liked cities with piles of religious nutjobs would dig it too, but even religious fanatics find that city insufferable.
Yeah, Dallas has really gone downhill lately since all the Yankees moved down here for the jobs their shitass state couldn't provide.

As long as we can agree that it is getting progressively worse from the backward-thinking, asphalt-hoarding hellhole it was a few years ago, I'd be willing to hear our your troglodyte-like theories about why it might be happening.
The only thing worse than Dallas is the people who live there.
The only US cities I'd like to see host the olympics in 2020 are
Boston
New York
Los Angeles
Philadelphia
Dallas? f*** no, sounds like a shit hole olympics
My pick is for Rome who is putting out a bid

Boston? Maybe Special Olympics.
New York? Can you say clusterf***?
Los Angeles? Been there, done that.
Philadelphia? Brotherly love is only a name as Philly is a hateful city that I wouldn't want to showscase Yanke white trash to the world.
Dallas? Too hot perhaps, but everything is in place from stadiums, arenas, swim/diving sites, hotels galore and a pretentious attitude.
You need to travel more.
Cities all the world over have no money to build 16 international standard venues plus corresponding practice fields. It would take taxpayers money for Dallas to hold a 2 week games. No city in the US is willing to waste that kind of money for a 2 week games when the venues would be abandoned afterwards. Only Los Angeles and Tokyo have the venues and practice field already built and in constant use throughout the year.
Minneapolis 2020!

Those are US cities I'd pick over Dallas, NOT my top pick.
What's wrong with any of the cities I listed? Can come up with legit reasons instead of 'omg clusterf*** special olympics etc etc'?
And who cares if the olympics were in LA before? The olympics were in Athens before 2004, in rome in 1960 and they're planning on bidding for the games which I'd think would be a great pick even though, as you said 'been there , done that'
I find it laughable you hate on Philly saying it would showcase white trash but are gung- ho for Dallas
Other venues might include:
Seattle
Denver
Bay Area (w/ San Francisco in name)
Minneapolis
True about Dallas and Philly but the Dallas white trash would be more attractive and better dressed.
States are going bankrupt. Cities are laying off teachers and safety workers. There's no money for an Olympics nor IAAF Outdoors. No politician is willing to propose going into more debt for a two week throw away games.
As long as Obama's Holy Christian Crusaders and Nazi-Zionistas are slaughtering Muslims in the Middle East, the USA doesn't stand a Chinaman's Chance in Hell of getting the Summer Olympics or IAAF Outdoor World Championships.
Islamic IOC nations already overwhelmingly rejected Chicago bid because of the 65 year long US Genocide of Islamic people.
So forget about it.

The 3 most viewed sports on TV for the summer Olympics are Track and Field, Swimming, and Gymnastics. Los Angeles does not have the venues built for the first 2. The track from 1984 is gone, and the swim venue is outdoors and now seats 2,000.
Chicagoans dodged a bullet when they didn't "win" the Olympics. I live in the Bay Area and pray we never "win" the right to host the Olympics. I can't afford it. I like the idea of having one city on each continent permanently host the Olympics ... rotate through the continents.
