I had my first stress fracture of the second metatarsal 7 months ago. I took 6.5 weeks off only cross training and then built running up very gradually over the next 5 weeks. For the last 12 weeks training has been going well and I have not ran over 70 miles. Recently my foot hasn’t felt right and I noticed a slight tender spot at the side of the bone callous between my first and second met – could this be the stress fracture returning or just the callous breaking up slightly? It does not hurt to hop on the foot. Are there any nerves or ligaments that it could be interfering with. Has anyone experienced anything like this before.
