You freakin rock!
Thanks, got it from prepgold. It actually does have a purpose.
Imagine being a 4:12 high school miler and knowing there were six other incoming freshmen who were faster.
But you haven't finished your senior year yet.
Post Prefontaine, we didn't care, we were all in a special place and time, and knew it and supported and cheered and rooted for one another 100%.
The rest is genetic lottery man.
Everyone at Oregon had the heart and did the work man, Track and running takes heart to even last and attempt it at the college level.
None of my teammates were "pussies," every one gave it all their heart and effort.
Genetics, and coaching, bad or good, individualized or McDonald's approach, determined the rest.
Speaking of "rest," why don't you give it a rest.
there must be a lot of families willing to pay signficant percentages of the cost of tution, room board and books to attend Oregon.
And given what they have in facilities, history, caliber of team and perks, I don't blame them.
it is mind boggling to me how they can get that much talent with the 12.6 and 18.0 scholarship limits.
Texas A&M the same way.
I know private schools often have plenty of "institutional aid" to discount the costs, but I'd never known state schools to be able to do the same.
I see Oregon signing football players from all of the country now too.
While this is all great for Oregon, I don't think it is good for the overall NCAA competitivness.
The schools with the most resources are beginning to really corner the market on talent.
Much like the BCS conferences wanting to expand and then eliminate all other conferences, or go off on their own.
Then there will be just football and basketball.
That is my fear.

You may have gone to Oregon, but you were chump change watching from the bleachers.
Give it a rest is right.
