I'm going with neutral. I just can't imagine that anyone who is concerned with running at a high level is getting training advice from that magazine. Or would take advice from that satanic Penguin jerk.
I don't see how it hurts it. Seriously, talented guys like Rupp, Webb, Hall, Ritz, or whomever are recognized early and then are nurtured and promoted by HS, college, and pro coaches. None of that has anything to do with Runner's World.
The one argument that could be made in RW's favor in this area, and I know most people don't want to hear it, is that RW does cater to and even foment a larger pool of admittedly slower roadrace entrants. But this does mean more money in the sport, more interest by shoe companies, and yes, bigger contracts and appearance fees for the pros.
I think RW COULD help the sport by promoting it more. They should encourage those middle/black of the packers to support the sport-Watch it on TV, etc.
Neutral (or does it matter?). RW is aimed at fun/fitness running for many, not high level running for a VERY few.
