I am a senior and have an official visit coming scheduled at a D1 school in a couple of weeks. It's my first and will probably be the only visit I make and I'm wondering what you usually do on the visit.

campus tour, meet the team, maybe even workout with team, tour the dorms, stay in the dorms or at possible future teammate's apt/house? eat
Try to go to a class if you can. In something you are interested in. Set up ahead of time to meet with a faculty in your potential major so you can talk about the strengths and weaknesses of their program.
What they said. Be careful, on one official visit my daughter was the designated driver for the team as they snuck her off campus to go to a party.
She came home, called the coach, told him she wasn't going to his college and why.

Wow, she sounds awful. I bet they are glad she didn't come.
workout with the team? Not if the coach abides by NCAA rules.
Official visit is a good time to get to know the coach and team see what kinda running they do and if you'll fit in with their culture.
Don't talk about how fast you are unless they ask because if they don't ask they either already know or don't care and in both of those cases you will sound dumb telling them your PRs
Bring a sleeping bag and pillow.

I think you got it wrong on who the awful one was; the college kids taking a high school kid to a party so they can get drunk and have her drive. Real classy team. I would hope my son or daughter would do the same by reporting them to their coach. As a former coach, I would have also wanted to know if something like that was going on.
I do understand that drinking does go on during many official visits, but if the high school kid is impressed by that, most likely that is not the kind of kid most schools would want. Everyone knows college kids drink, including athletes, but if they can't put their drinking aside for one night to entertain a recruit, then there are issues with that team.

If you are not sure of the NCAA rules, probably better not to post your opinion here. It is okay for a recruit to workout with the team as long as the coach didn't organize it and he is not present. In other words, if you stay over on a Saturday night and a bunch of guys on the team go out for a Sunday run, the recruit can go with them.

I'm not commenting on whether recruits should get drunk or not on trips, but it doesn't really sound too fun to go to a party and be the designated driver while the people that are supposed to be entertaining you are out having a good time.
I've been on recruiting trips where the opportunity has presented itself to drink and other trips in which it didn't happen. I think it does generally paint a picture about the team though if the recruits are getting drunk. I'm sure there's teams and individuals that are an exception to that.
Generally on a trip you will meet some potential teammates, hang out in the dorms/off campus apartment, possibly go out (movies, party etc...) run with the team (the coach isn't allowed to be there), and speak to the coach.
