Does she have enough time between having her first child and getting back into top shape before the trials next January? She's always been my favorite athlete to watch!

Yes. She will.
Davila--Lewy Boulet--Kastor
Neither Goucher or Flanagan will make the marathon team. Both will make the team in the 10000 along with Koll. This will leave Begley left off.
When is her baby due?
Next month.
Here are Kastor's marathon performances (from USATF page), along with age:
2001 New York - 2:26:58 - Age 28
2002 Chicago - 2:26:53 - Age 29
2003 London - 2:21:16 (American Record) - Age 30
2004 Olympic Trials - 2:29:38 - Age 31
Olympics - 2:27:20 (Bronze Medal)
2005 Chicago 2:21:25 - Age 32
2006 London 2:19:36 (American Record) - Age 33
2007 Boston 2:35:09 - Age 34
2008 Olympic Trials - 2:29:35 - Age 35
Olympics - DNF (broken foot)
2009 Chicago - 2:28:50 - Age 36
2010 London - 2:36:20 - Age 37
It could be a while before an American women has as good of 4 years as Kastor did between 2003-2006. But she hasn't performed anywhere close to that since. She'll be one month short of 39 when the 2012 Trials are held. Even without the pregnancy and baby, I would think she'd have been a question mark.
Is Flanagan running the Trials for sure? If so, I think she'd be a safe bet to make the team. I also feel Davilla has got a great chance. After that, you have Lewy-Boulet, Goucher, and now Rothstein all under 2:30. That's not a real long list, so if she can get back to just the 2:30 level, she's got a shot.
If Flanagan wants to run the marathon at the Trials, there's not much reason to imagine that she couldn't beat Lewy Boulet.

You're responding to me, so it seems that you seem to think I have Lewy Boulet ahead of Flanagan. I said that Flanagan and Davilla had the best chance to make the team, and then listed the other 3 runners (besides Kastor) who have run sub-2:30. Lewy Boulet is nearly as old as Kastor (38 at the trials).
I don't think so and I'm pulling for her. Some good runners will be left off the team. If you're young, you bounce back and make some money elsewhere. If you're Kastor it may be time to realize you've run your best.
Should she hang em up? NO WAY. Deena Kastor is a very classy ambassador for the sport and should, like Bill Rogers and Joan Samuelson, keep racing for a LONG time.
Flanagan, Goucher, Darkhorse- unknown at this time.
Much like that runn guy that only knows as much as he is fed by RW, I will go with what I have been fed.
Deena--Joannie and Cathy O'Brien
I think she becomes a DNS. Nothing personal, just looks like she has already run her best times and is somewhat injury prone. Add to that a pretty fast try to ramp up for one last hurrah....

Darkhorse? What the... Davila has the 4th fastest US marathon.
I don't read RW. It's just how I feel. And I've been watching OT's since 1984.
I think Goucher will time her comeback for the trials and Flanagan looked real good in NYC.
Also, it seems that, very often, someone no one expects makes the team.
I think Davila deserves it, the way she's been improving and racing. But, those are my picks-1 year away.

I know that. I just think someone else will make the team. I hope I'm wrong, I like her and I hope she makes the team.
We may have a stronger overall team if Flanagan and Goucher run the 10,000 with Huddle(?).
What will be will be. One year is a long time to stay injury and illness free.
3 people will get to the line 100% ready, others will not be for whatever reason.
I was responding to the guy who picked Davila, Lewy Boulet, and Kastor for the team
The womens race is far easier to predict than the mens race at this point.
Davila--I am more sure that she will make the team than I was that Deena would make the team in 2008.
Flanagan--Will make the team but choose to run the 5k-10k at the Olympics and then pick up a payday in New York that year.
Magdalena--Will finish 3rd in a tough fought race with Deena,
Deena--Will finish 4th but represent the USA after Shalane chooses to run on the track.
Goucher--Will dnf with some major "drama". She will do her best to try to still make the event all about her. She will make the team in the 10k. This will provide her and Shalaane to have a showdown in New York in 2012.
Rothstein--Will follow the same route as Brett Gotcher and over train in an attempt to close the gap with the above group.
I agree with you, minus the drama side-commentary on Goucher and my bet is a dns, not a dnf. Davila, Magda, Deena. Flanagan chooses 5k/10k and Goucher ends up making 10k team.
