I gained 10lbs over the holidays. I'm a petite person (5'2, 115). I feel awful and I'm having such a hard time getting into the groove to get it off. I run approx 50 to 60mpw.

Cut off your head
Yeah... DON'T. Losing weight too quickly screws with your running, screws with your appetite, and is more likely to come back. Just accept you've gained the weight and commit to losing it ~1lb/wk until you've leveled off.
eat less, exercise more. that usually sheds the pounds, but too much less/more and you get messed up. i can usually shift 2lbs/week if i am overweight (ie - just put on 10lb by stuffing myself over the holiday). anymore than that and you are probably not losing it sustainably.
