Two weeks ago I asked for advice in training for a race between myself and two co-workers. The race was a full 400m for the 28yr old former ivy league cornerback and high school track star, a 366m modified loop for myself (34m headstart since I'm 34 and have zero running experience) and 359m for our boss.
The results are in - the race was held last friday and the boss won. Unofficially my boss finished at 56.5 seconds, I finished in 58 seconds and the young one finished at 61.5.
It was brutal - but fun. we are going to try it again in 2 months and see where it shakes out. Thanks everyone for the advice on training - I did a few of the workouts suggested - but I think I need more time to really improve my speed and endurance down the last 80 meters when I felt like I was dragging two sandbags tied to my legs.
