What is the difference between a lunar eclipse and a normal moon phase (ie. crescent moon)? Aren't they both shadows on the moon cast by the earth?

google and wikipedia are your friends.
The Lunar Eclipse are more of a lightweight trainer whereas the Moon Phase has a lot more cushioning.
They are actually completely different. The phases of the moon are the moon casting shadows on itself. A lunar eclipse is the Earth getting in between the sun and the moon.
