Let's be honest...Who has heard of this guys as of 2 weeks ago?
Some no-name Ethopian can "JOG" 13.1 miles and finish 8th ahead of Jorge Torres...THEN run 13.1, stop to use the restroom for a bit, then finish tied for 4th among all americans...OR not stop to use the restroom and beat all American 1/2 marathoners!

You should pay attention. Bekana Daba has been a fixture on the European track scene for the past 3 years or so. He has even run in the US a few times indoors, namely in the race where Rupp and Chelanga battled at Tyson over 5000m. Daba beat them both.
i think daba has raced rupp 3 or 4 times and beat him each time, he is a sub 13 minute 5k runner, he is legit.
Sorry I wasn't clear as I was referring to average "Americans" when I was rhetorically asking the question. Yet still. We should be able to run equal to the rest of the world and not getting slower.
They guy would have been sub 2:06 with a little kick and no tinkle break. Had it been dry and cool, he could have pushed 2:05. It will be interesting to see whether he is invited to Boston or London. Merga, Tune and Erkesso all did Houston/Boston doubles and won.
