Does this guy actually earn a living from running? Also, if he's such a pro, why is he running 4:00 for the mile at Milrose?

He ran 1:45.14 in the 800 last year, 3rd or 4th best U.S. performer and among the world's top 25.
Yeah what the heck!? He sucks!
Is Bernard Lagat a World Champion? If so, why is he running 3:59 at Millrose?

You're exactly right. Kenenisa Bekele ran 4:01 at Millrose a few years ago, and he's definitely not a pro.
i think a 334 is indeed worthy of a pro contract, but things have changed and 334 in 2011 is not the same as 334 a decade ago...
this guy looked sharp and focused in that race on friday night. i think good things will happen this year.
watch out for this guy.
and also, four flat on the boards at MSG is worth about 352 in the middle of july.
there are so many G forces in play in an 11 lap to the mile race.
its like gravity completely shifts...
further, four flat on the boards is worth about 335 in a downhill mile (10% decline)
or fifteen seconds for the mile (90% decline)
As much as you're surely trying to help him by "fueling his fire," David Torrence is the real deal. The man has done nothing but progress since his time of blogging on flotrack about being a struggling sub-elite.
His pr's are more than legit, and worthy of making a living off of his running. Also, don't be surprised to see him on a WC or Olympic team in these upcoming years.
Also, if he's such a pro, why is he running 4:00 for the mile at Milrose?
can you run a 4:00 mile? on an indoor track like Millrose? Gotta love letsrun where everyone is a 3:45 miler

pros were throwing out sub 3:30's like it was jogging a decade ago.
I thin you might be somewhat serious with your Torrence contempt, besides the obvious trolling.
However, regardless of your aim, you're failed and lose credibility for thinking you had to list an email address to post here. Don't be so quick on the draw, my son.

He could do without the arrogance and constant self-promotion. Let your running speak for it self.

You are a walk jogging kkk/white boy. Go f*** yourself ass hold, David is a hard working runner!! You are like most slow ass kkk/white boys on here. All way taking shite about good white and black runners.
I don't understand:
http://www.calbears.com/sports/c-xc/spec-rel/103107aac.htmlChillax, man; I think this thread was sort of joking because of Torrence saying that LRC trash talking was, um, inspirational.

If bad races aren't allowed then Geb dropping out of the NY Marathon means he is not a pro. Or any NFL quarterback throwing more interceptions then touchdowns in a game means their not a pro. Stupidity!!!
Anyways, finally someone calls out most of the Letsrun message board for what it is.
Torrence is a cool guy and gets more respect for that quote.
He just called out all of the pimple faced teens and @$%holes on this board. Ha Ha!
I kind of hope that someone can earn a living from running 1:45/3:34.
I stumbled acroos the following article and got a good chuckle.
David Torrence is legit:

Yo peep this potna, you can't be trashin on da white boys up in dis mug. You gots to recognize dat da flava be set poppin. You gots to speak wit da skills. You trippin and be slippin..hole up son, speak from da heart..instead you speakin from da MOWF...white boys up in dis mug don't be ass 'hold's'...recognize da skills before you trip on the bills, son...ya heard?
A runner makes more off of endorsement deals and appearance fees than on prize money.
You would like him to lose 3/4 of his income? That is strange.
Hah, this thread is great. OP scores massive points for getting several people to actually claim that a 4:00, 2 sec off the winner and 1 sec behind lagat, at MILLROSE(!) is a bad performance.
Also, the fact that if he didn't deserve to be a pro, there would be ~5 male milers in the country who did (Lagat, Wheating, Webb, Manzano, Lomong, maybe Leer, maybe Heath--sorry to anyone I've left out). I guess there are probably many on this board who think that should be how it is.
Thing I like best about Torrance is that he races a lot in the US, even if it's not a big race.
