um, hello. she just had a kid not too long ago!!! how many of you have run that time a few months after giving birth??

I'm guessing she was using this race as a training run to get back into race form not going for an American record.

close to the ncaa auto, but not quite.

I'll never understand this. All it looks like to me is she ran a very nice workout, AND won the race. Who are any of you to say what effort she was giving? Even if she went all out (well, maybe not all out, but still), there is nothing to complain about here.

When Kara loses, or makes an unnecessarily snide comment, people bash her. Although I can't understand why, it at least has some semblance of reason involved. This is just stupid. She ran a decent time, and won the race, a few months off a pregnancy. Quite recently after a very good half marathon effort as well.

I just don't get it.

Workouts.

Not races.

I remember my first race.

the problem with this workout is that it is stupid to be concerned about speed if she is running Boston in less than 3 months. Continued Flawed coaching by the sameman that currently has Webb, Ritz, Begley, all currently hurt.

Kara is getting her fitness back and, as everyone knows, there's a process to that. She's coming along really well.

She stood on the starting line. She won the race. It's not an excuse to say she is racing her way back. It's a fact.

You don't race yourself into "marathon shape" unless you are a 3 hour marathoner. You train yourself into "marathon shape".

Daddy Adam was seen pushing the pram. Word around the campfire was that he had Coulton doing repeat quarters out at Husky stadium in the dark. And the rain.

...most ppl dont run all out race efforts and then do 1200m repeats afterward though.

I think the 16:11 is fine, all things considered.

But I also think, looking at this most recent 5k and her half, we can't expect anything noteworthy in Boston. The race is two months away. Anything between 2:30 and 2:35 would be an accomplishment, in my opinion.

I did today a 10k and backed up 16:11 (after first half in 15:26)...but wasn´t pregnant before

I would bet that everyone on this thread trashing her for racing a 5k during marathon build up has also been on a Ryan Hall thread trashing him for not racing in a marathon build up.

This is actually an excellent workout for her and is a good sign that she is getting her fitness back quickly.

so you've never run a race just to test your fitness?

I've always been told that racing is a part of training. So, many athletes run races while not in the best shape to get used to racing and build up to something better.

I've never understood people who refuse to race unless they are in top shape. Is it an ego thing?
