Does anyone who the xc coach of UCLA is? I went on their website and I am completely confused in regards to who their coach is. It does not even list a head coach. Also, does anyone have any theories as to what is wrong with the women. I am from California so I know how many talented recruits they get every year and still they cant make it to the NCAA championship. Very weird...
I believe Forrest Braden coaches all their distance runners.
Its probably Nueheisel's fault.
I was 1600 meter runner last year and i wrote UCLA. They were the only school not to respond. I was told later that Johnny Gray coaches the 800 and Braden forrest coaches the long distances. I gues the 1600 people are stuck huh? I never got a buzz from Westwood. Now Im at FIU.
the coaches are listed under "roster." it's a fairly new coaching staff (in their second year), so you'd have to expect a work in progress; however, they've already shown tremendous growth on the distance side, both in recruiting and in developing the talent that's already there (bias alert: i'm an alumnus, and my son just signed his letter of intent to run there). i obviously have a lot of faith in johnny gray and forest braden.
my recommendation to any recruit: be persistent and humble. no matter how good you think you are, assume that 40 other guys/girls better than you may have contacted the same coach. that means he/she may or may not get back to you unless you find a way to move up on that list, or keep after him/her until they recognize your name and give you the time of day. if you really want to go to the school you'll do this; if not, you won't...
They have a new distance coach of just a year or two ago. I've met him and he's a great guy, good running credentials himself and smart. Plus, they've added Johnny Gray to the staff too.
