Right now I'm finishing my 4th year of undergrad majoring in Biology. I will graduate next December. My school doesn't actually offer a BS in Physiology, but I have taken several Physiology classes, including a comparative one, and I'm pretty sure Physiology is what I want to study. I love the outdoors, and I find reading about the long nephrons of a desert rodent or the diving physiology of weddell seals to be fascinating, though i do like learning Pathology in humans as well. Beyond this, after looking around at graduate programs a bit, it seems like very few schools offer Zoology programs that emphasize physiology. I'm wondering if I could get an MS in Physiology somewhere and then do a PhD in Zoology somewhere else. Would that be an appropriate track to becoming an Zoologist focusing on adaptive physiology?
My advisor is a geneticist and hasn't really been very helpful, which is why I come here. Sorry if I sound a little clueless. It's been within the last year that I've gotten interested in Physiology, so I haven't had a ton of time to figure things out for myself. Any advice would be appreciated.
